The Mileage Challenge

Chalmers Vera Team competes in “Mileage Challenges”, a competition where the goal is to achieve the most fuel efficient run possible. Today we only compete in the Shell Eco-marathon which runs once a year but we have also historically competed in the Pisaralla Pisimmälle, a competition organized by Remmi Team for Internal Combustion Engine Prototype Vehicles.

A run in a competition is typically to travel a set distance over a set time limit, then afterwards the fuel usage is measured. For Shell Eco-marathon Poland this distance is 14,5 km (11 laps around Silesia Ring’s Western Loop) in 35 minutes or less. For Shell Eco-marathon the electricity usage is also measured and deducted from the final result, which has been implemented from 2024 onwards.

Currently our best result is from 2019 where we achieved 1617 kilometers per liter with Vera III.
